Nurturing the Artist Within: A Writing Retreat for Women
Join us in Tavernelle, located in beautiful Tuscany, Italy for a 6-day writing retreat from June 16-22, 2023, in a restored medieval home. You’ll arrive on Friday evening for a wonderful meal and orientation activities. Each morning will start with yoga and/or meditation and an on-site breakfast, followed by Amherst-method writing workshops from 9:00 am - 11:00 am. These workshops are designed to awaken your inner artist and will invite you to generate new material based on a series of writing prompts connected to our location and travel experiences. Take advantage of our setting to go deeper into your creative work!
Afternoon sessions will include craft lessons and individual check-ins to discuss your work and will take place from 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm. Our day four schedule will vary as we will have a full-day excursion, exploring the centuries-old seaside villages in Cinque Terre on your own (information about different tours will be made available for you ahead of time – and you will be sent off with writing prompts to keep your creative juices flowing!).
In your free time, you can enjoy the beautiful pool on location, take advantage of wine-tasting and/or traditional Italian cooking classes and go hiking or explore the local town. There is no better way to awaken your inner artist than to travel and indulge in new experiences in a community of other gifted women who are also committed to deepening their writing practice.

Novelists, memoirists, and nonfiction authors:
Map Your Book From Start to Finish is your opportunity to obtain a professional assessment of where your work currently stands, to work in person with experienced book coaches and to meet a community of writers who are grappling with their own stories and big ideas.
This is the supportive, substantive opportunity you’ve been looking for to finish, polish and prepare your book for publication, get personalized coaching feedback and meet other serious writers who you may inspire–and be inspired by.
Prior to our all-day, in-person workshop, we’ll share a simple tool to help you assess the strengths and weaknesses of your writing project.
You’ll join three certified book coaches who will help you discover the path to writing—and finishing—a novel, memoir or nonfiction book you will be proud to share with the world. During our in-person time together, we’ll meet in small groups to dive into your chosen genre (novel, memoir or nonfiction). You’ll meet one-on-one with a book coach to review our feedback on your assessment and get clear on your intended audience, the structure of your book and other foundational issues. And you’ll connect with peer writers.
